Coastal and open-ocean carbonate chemistry reflects both anthropogenic CO₂ and substantial natural variability. My research examines how biogeochemical reactions in surface marine sediments influence this chemistry through exchanges across the sediment-water interface.
A particular focus is placed on fluxes of total alkalinity (TA) and dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), which can strongly shape coastal carbon cycling. By resolving their spatial and temporal heterogeneity, I aim to improve the observation and modelling of sediment-water interactions.
